An SA National Defence Force (SANDF) soldier has been found guilty of raping and intentionally infecting his girlfriend with HIV.

Leon Santos Conga appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he was found guilty of rape and attempted murder.

The court found Conga effectively raped his then-girlfriend under false pretences, as he did not disclose his HIV status to her.
