The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria heard on Tuesday that the man who was killed to use his body as a decoy for insurance payout was burnt while still alive.

A Soshanguve couple, Sibusiso and Lerato Mahlangu, are on trial for allegedly killing Lerato’s former lover, Sibusiso Sithebe, in an attempt to fake Mahlangu’s death for insurance policy payouts. They face a count of murder and three counts of fraud.

It turned out the burnt body was that of Sibusiso Sithebe, who is Lerato’s former lover and father of her daughter.
