South Africa initiated proceedings against Israel at the International Court of Justice for alleged crimes against humanity committed in Palestine.
South Africa initiated proceedings against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague for alleged crimes against humanity committed in Palestine, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) said on Friday.
South Africa, which has maintained its support for Palestine, wants the court to declare on an urgent basis that Israel is in breach of its obligations in terms of the Genocide Convention and wants it to cease attacks on Palestine.
In the 84-page court application seen by News24, South Africa labels Israel’s attacks, which started on 7 October, as “genocidal” in character.
