Seven suspects including an EFF councillor have been arrested for stealing SAPS weapons.
An EFF councillor in Polokwane was among seven wanted suspects arrested for allegedly breaking into a SAPS specialised unit office and stealing weapons and 400 rounds of live ammunition.
Police believe someone within the police unit assisted the suspects.
The group was arrested between 28 and 29 December following a two-week intelligence-driven joint operation.
