Snl24 | ‘Speeding’ car kills traffic cop

Kedibone Railo, a traffic officer, was allegedly killed by a speeding car.

An alleged speeding driver has taken the life of a traffic officer on duty.

This as Kedibone Railo (45) lost her life due to an allegedly speeding car outside Mokopane in Limpopo along the N1.

The incident occurred while Railo, based at the Mokopane Traffic Station, was conducting a speed operation on Wednesday, 3 January around 6:45pm.

Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Florence Radzilani visited her grieving family on Thursday, 4 January.

The sombre occasion saw her accompanied by the Mayor of Mogalakwena Local Municipality, Ngwako Taueatsoala, and senior management members of her department.

The deceased’s cousin, Kabelo Marutla (37), shared the family’s heartbreak with Daily Sun, and shed light on the difficult time they’re going through.

“We’re really trying to cope as a family. We’re trying to handle the situation and we wish the law to take its course,” he said.

Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Florence Radzilani visited the family of the late Kedibone Railo.

Radzilani expressed her grief on behalf of the provincial government, describing Railo as a dedicated road safety patron who died while trying to ensure the safety of others.

The MEC also sent messages of condolences to the colleagues, friends, and family of the deceased officer.

According to Radzilani, a case of culpable homicide was opened by SAPS, and the accused offender was arrested.

“The accused offender appeared in court earlier today and was denied bail. The investigation is ongoing,” she said.
