Lenovo’s stunning new Yoga laptop packs in two OLED screens

Lenovo’s Yoga line has always been able to twist itself into different forms, but the newest addition announced at CES 2024 puts a unique spin on it—you get two displays joined by a hinge in the Book 9i. But while this laptop looks as if it’s the Microsoft Surface Duo reborn, you can do a heck of a lot more with it.

When paired with its detachable keyboard and cover, you can bend the Yoga Book 9i not just into a traditional clamshell form, but dual landscape or dual portrait mode, a tented set of displays, and side-by-side screens. And, most importantly, it’s not hampered by a mobile operating system: It runs Windows 11.

Lenovo calls the Yoga Book 9i “the first full-size dual-screen OLED laptop,” with specs that easily go head-to-head with rivals. This new model weighs just 2.95 pounds and boasts a 13.3-inch display, Intel 14th-generation Core i7 U-class CPU, Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, up to 32GB LPDDR5X memory, up to a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, and a rotating Bowers & Wilkins soundbar. Anyone who’s ever wanted a Surface Duo with Windows is finally in luck.

In addition to the Yoga Book 9i, Lenovo revealed seven other laptops coming to the lineup, along with AI features aimed at creatives. Lenovo’s Creator Zone software leans on generative AI to convert text prompts to images—and with its powerful new 16-inch Yoga Pro 9i laptop, you also get Image Training, which lets you teach a local AI to create images in the vein of your usual style and preferences. Both it and the 14-inch Yoga 9i also pack an AI chip (“Lenovo AI Core Chip”) to power AI-driven optimizations for performance, battery life, and cooling efficiency.

The Yoga Pro 9i will sport your choice of an Intel Core 5, 7, or 9 H-series CPU, up to RTX 4070 laptop graphics, up to 64GB of LPDDR5X memory, up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, a six-speaker array with enhanced bass, and either a 3200×2000 IPS display rated at 400 nits brightness or mini-LED panel rated at 1200 nits. Don’t need quite so much stuffed into a laptop? The 14-inch Lenovo Yoga 9i is a lighter, 2-in-1 alternative that steps down to an Intel Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, Intel Arc graphics, 16GB LPDDR5x memory, up to 1TB M.2 SSD, and a rotating Bowers & Wilkins soundbar with four speakers. For the screen, you can choose between a 2800×1800 or 3840×2400 OLED panel with 400 nit brightness.

More affordable options start with the 14-inch Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i and Yoga Pro 7. The Slim 7i features an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, Intel Arc graphics, up to 32GB LPDDR5X, up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2, and a 14-inch 1920×1200 OLED screen with 400 nit brightness (either glass or matte). The Pro 7 packs in an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU, up to RTX 4050 laptop GPU, up to 16GB LPDDR5X memory, up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD, and a 14.5-inch 2560×1600 90Hz with 350 nit brightness (either glass or matte). For those living in Europe, Africa, or the Middle East, a Yoga Pro 7i will be available, with Intel Core Ultra processor options, up to a newer RTX 4050, and more memory.

Those on slimmer budgets can look at the Yoga 7i, a 2-in-1 that’ll come in a 14-inch and 16-inch versions. These convertibles will feature Microsoft’s new Copilot key—further pushing the AI future that the tech industry is going big on. Inside you’ll find a Core Ultra 7 U-series CPU, Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, up to 16GB LPDDR5x memory, and up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD.

Of the new Lenovo Yoga models announced, only the Yoga Book 9i, Yoga 9i 2-in-1, and Yoga 7i (both 14- and 16-inch) have the Yoga line’s famed 360 hinge. Three of the others go to just 180 degrees, while the Pro 9i only goes to 150 degrees.
