AFCON 2023: Super Eagles depart Abu Dhabi for Lagos ahead of dinner with Gov. Sanwo-Olu
The Super Eagles will hit Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday, but they will make a brief stop in Lagos
Nigeria’s Super Eagles players and staff have left Abu Dhabi for Lagos ahead of their farewell dinner with the Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles have been camped in Abu Dhabi since January 2 in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to kick off on January 13.
During their time in Abu Dhabi, the team played two games. They squared off against a local club in Abu Dhabi, a game which they won 12-0. But they suffered a 2-0 loss to Guinea on Monday.
The team concluded their program in Abu Dhabi on Monday, and on Tuesday morning, they shared a video of the team leaving Dubai for Lagos. They are expected to land in Lagos on Tuesday evening.
Then, they will have a dinner with the Governor of Lagos on Tuesday before leaving for Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday.
The Africa Cup of Nations will begin on Saturday, January 13, but the Super Eagles will play their first game against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14. Then, they will square off against hosts Cote d’Ivoire on January 18 before concluding their group stage fixtures against Guinea-Bissau on January 22.
