Fireworks display at the V&A Waterfront on New Year’s Eve.
Animal welfare organisations in Cape Town have had their hands full since the start of the New Year attending to animals injured as a result of fireworks.
The Animal Welfare Society (AWS) emergency response team was kept busy throughout the night and into the early hours of Monday morning due to the fireworks.
AWS spokesperson Allen Perrins said the organisation was still admitting scores of animals with fireworks-related injuries.
