News24 | Two business robbery suspects arrested following ‘high-speed chase’ on Western Cape’s R46 route
Some of the presumed stolen items recovered from the vehicle following a police chase.
A high-speed chase on the busy R46 route on Saturday resulted in two suspects being arrested near Riebeek-Kasteel in the Western Cape after police received information about a business robbery in progress.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, said officials attached to the Saron police station were busy with patrols when they received information about the business robbery.
Mobile phones were also seized in the bust.

Swartbooi said they gathered the relevant information and then asked for help from nearby Tulbagh SAPS members, who responded to the request.
“While patrolling the provincial R46 road, they located the vehicle, which resulted in a high-speed chase. The chase came to a halt when the police members stopped the vehicle near Riebeek-Kasteel,” said Swartbooi.
Police said, upon searching both occupants and the vehicle, they confiscated an imitation firearm and goods, presumed to be stolen property.
Cartons of various branded cigarettes were also found by police, along with an undisclosed amount of money.
An undisclosed amount of money was also recovered from the suspects.

The suspects, aged 29 and 30, were arrested on a charge of business robbery.
Police added that the suspects would appear in the Tulbagh Magistrate’s court once they had been charged.
