Seattle goalie pays tribute to Mariners in NHL Winter Classic shutoutJanuary 1st, 2024
The Mariners’ T-Mobile Park is hosting the 2024 NHL Winter Classic on New Year’s Day, and the players from both teams showed up in style.
The Seattle Kraken, who are hosting the outdoor hockey game in the Mariners’ home stadium, arrived at the rink in Pike Place Market fishmonger outfits — complete with life-size fish props.
It was a fun tribute by the Kraken to the Seattle landmark, famous for its fish market stalls.
Some Mariners stars past and present were also part of the festivities, via baseball cards adorning a goalie helmet. Kraken goalkeeper Joey Daccord even made like Randy Johnson with a shutout, stopping 35 shots in a 3-0 victory.
As for Seattle’s opponents, the Vegas Golden Knights? The entire team dressed as Elvis.
Seeing the reigning Stanley Cup champions pile off the team bus in full Elvis attire … that’s a spectacle worthy of Las Vegas.
