Goal of the Month winner: December 2023Our fans have voted, and Rasmus Hojlund’s winner against Aston Villa is our Goal of the Month for December 2023…
Rasmus Hojlund’s second-half winner in our 3-2 comeback victory over Aston Villa attracted a huge 54 per cent of the voting.
The Denmark international’s first in the Premier League came at a crucial time, as it completed a remarkable turnaround at Old Trafford, under the lights on Boxing Day, and oozed class.
Hojlund controlled the ball inside the box from a corner and in a flash the ball had flown beyond Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and into the net, sending the Theatre of Dreams into pandemonium.
The importance of the strike, both to United and to Rasmus, was palpable as the passion flowed out of the striker.
It is a worthy winner of our last Goal of the Month award of 2023, but there were other finishes that garnered attention from our fans too.
Alejandro Garnacho’s first goal in the very same match gained 23 per cent in the poll, with the fluid team move being finished off by the Argentina international to spark our comeback.
Marcus Rashford’s cool finish in the Reds’ narrow defeat at Nottingham Forest – our final goal of 2023 – was backed by six per cent of supporters for the award, while Scott McTominay’s second goal against Chelsea and Ella Toone’s effort versus Spurs attracted four per cent apiece.
Congratulations, Rasmus!
